This program was developed for contractors
with construction contracts involving State and Federal Prevailing Wage
laws.
A Prevailing Wage law applies to construction projects undertaken by a
contractor or sub contractor and requires that the contractor or sub
contractor pay the locally prevailing rate of wages to workers on the
project. Prevailing wage rate requirements for Federal and
Federally-Assisted Construction projects are governed at the Federal level
by the Davis-Bacon Act. The contractor or sub contractor is mandated to
submit weekly certified payroll reports beginning with the first week that
the company worked on the project and for every week thereafter, until the
company completed its work. Their ability to provide accurate weekly reports
to the US Department of Labor is critical to their success.
The most common certified payroll reporting forms to use are the United
States Department of Labor Form WH-347 - Payroll Certification and Form
WH-348 - Statement of Compliance, however many states require the use of
their own specialized form, which have been derived from these standard
forms.
What does
Metron's Prevailing Wage software do?
Using this
software, your payroll department would first create a record for each
employee that they want to track. All hourly employees can be setup,
regardless of whether they have prevailing wage considerations. Next, your
payroll department would setup the "Work
Classes" and "Jobs" tables. These tables can easily be imported from
almost any file. Remember, you have unlimited customer support to make
this setup job easy, and it only need be done once. A very large company
with 100 employees and thousands of Class and Job tables can
be setup in 2 hours.
Each week your payroll department enters the times that are recorded on
each employees' timecard or timesheet directly onto his time card record
in Prevailing Wage.
As each work period is entered, Prevailing Wage will handle the rounding
and overtime computation and deduct time automatically for breaks and
meals. Where a prevailing
wage rate must be applied, easy tabs let you select the correct Class and
Job codes.
Prevailing Wage comes with 8 reports that provide each employee's hours
information by Class, by Date or by Job. Years of information can be kept
indefinitely for instant History reporting. Any report can be emailed
and/or exported to Excel.
Prevailing Wage interfaces
to most payroll software and payroll services.
