What does Prevailing Wage mean?

A prevailing wage law applies to construction projects undertaken by a contractor or sub contractor and requires that the contractor or sub contractor pay the locally prevailing rate of wages to workers on the project. Prevailing wage rate requirements for Federal and Federally-Assisted Construction projects are governed at the Federal level by the Davis-Bacon Act. The contractor or sub contractor is mandated to submit weekly certified payroll reports beginning with the first week that the company worked on the project and for every week thereafter, until the company completed its work.

What is Form WH-347?
The most common certified payroll reporting forms to use are the United States Department of Labor Form WH-347 - Payroll Certification and Form WH-348 - Statement of Compliance, however many states require the use of their own specialized form, which have been derived from these standard forms.

What does Metron's Prevailing Wage software do?
This software program was developed for contractors and sub contractors with construction contracts involving State and Federal Prevailing Wage laws. Their ability to provide accurate weekly reports to the US Department of Labor is critical to their success. Before the needed reports can be completed, the employees' weekly time sheets must be calculated into net hours worked, including overtime. Also, those jobs that have a Prevailing Wage Rate must be reported to be paid at that rate.

Simply enter the start and stop times on each employee time sheet, (or time card), directly into Prevailing Wage.  As each in and out time is entered, Prevailing Wage will compute the net hours worked, applying the employee's unique rounding and overtime policies and deducting for meal breaks.  Special codes like Sick or Vacation, or an alternate pay rate can be applied to a specific work period.

Prevailing Wage will compute the time sheet information, calculate overtime and gross earnings, run detail and summary reports then interface employee hours information to payroll. It's reports show both hours and gross earnings information by employee, department, pay period, by sick days or vacation days etc., in detail or in summary. Reports can be printed, displayed, e-mailed or exported. Using simple menu selections, employee hours information can be passed to your in-house payroll program or outside payroll provider, like Paychex, ADP or Ceridian, without the need to re-key anything!

Certified Payroll is designed for efficiency and ease.  Detailed on-line Help messages throughout the software explain every step and function. Unlimited telephone support is included.
